The Changelings
A whole faith, an accumulation of small miracles.
The Changelings is an existential coming-of-age quest about Christianity, bisexuality and becoming your mother – three issues that monologuing frontwoman, Charlotte Salusinszky, tried to keep separate. That is, until one fateful viewing of the film, ‘Freaky Friday’.
Part-concert, part-sermon, with a live score by Bonnie Stewart and Micaela Ellis, The Changelings is a genre-bending performance about a longing for the fairy realm that never went away.
“It is rare to be so profoundly moved by a performance, and The Changelings exceeded all expectations one may often have of independent theatre.” - Zoe Witenden, Kaleidoscope Arts Journal
“A toweringly ambitious feat…Salusinszky is in a firmament of her own, incandescent with her own strange light.” - Kate Prendergast, Notes On
“With a wonderfully virtuosic sermon-rock live score by Bonnie Stewart and Micaela Ellis, there’s an elemental, impishly freewheeling and completely fearless spirit soaring through this coming-of-age story.” - Kate Prendergast, Notes On
“The set was seemingly a force of its own as it continued to open up as the show progressed. Every cue was hit with divine timing as spaces of colour and white light led us into holy emotion.” - Zoe Witenden, Kaleidoscope Arts Journal
